The system uses a pair of stainless steel TLM-F4 robot arms equipped with suction grippers to pack 160 sausages a minute snugly in to the vacuum-formed packaging.
The smoked sausages were previously packed by hand.
The Schubert equipment can process sausages weighing 227-375g and is fitted with a vision system to ensure that damaged or misshapen products are rejected.
Meanwhile, Schubert is planning to show its new thermoforming capabilities at this year’s PPMA Show that runs from 29 September to 1 October at the NEC in Birmingham.
The TLM-T800, on stand C30 at the show, is capable of processing all packaging polymers and has an automatic roll change facility.
David Maddern, Schubert UK sales director, said the addition of thermoforming made the firm’s machines among the most flexible packing systems on the market.
