Watt Gilchrist, the specialist design, pre-press and publishing agency, has opened two new offices in Shenzhen, China, and Hong Kong to meet outsourcing demands from Western brand owners.

"With the Chinese economy booming, outsourcing to this market is just good business sense," said Watt Gilchrist managing director Paul Bean.

Counterfeiting and quality issues make demand for supply at source crucial in the Asian market, he added.

Watt Gilchrist is owned by Sun Chemical, which expects its range of anti-counterfeiting inks to increase in popularity as its Asian project grows.

Expert technologists will run the two new offices and manage the control systems for print and packaging suppliers during production, ensuring colour consistency and brand guidelines are met.

Eight staff will run the Hong Kong facility while there will be 10 people in the Shenzhen office, with the company expecting staffing levels to grow over the next five years.

Watt Gilchrist already has offices in Mumbai and is investigating further expansion in India.
