Welsh minister witnesses label print investmentJill Park, 23 June 2009Be the first to comment on this article Digital print label specialist Borble has welcomed one of Wales’ top politicians to explain how it has invested a 75,000 government grant. Welsh Deputy First Minister and Minister for Economy and Transport Ieuan Wyn Jones was given a tour of the Ryhl-based factory and shown the company’s new web-based ordering system. Borble used the grant, which was given under the Single Investment Fund scheme, to buy a second Xeikon digital label press at the height of the recession to complement its existing Xeikon 330 label press. This area of North Wales is designated as an area of economic regeneration by the European Union and so Borble applied for a grant on this basis. “It is good to see a company which is investing in leading-edge technology, training staff in new skills and serving other businesses in the Welsh economy,” he Jones. Borble director Barry Griffiths told Packaging News that the company is running “double shifts, five days a week” to meet customer demand. “The needs of the recession are being met by this type of service,” he added.
