Zenith eyes new markets after Heidelberg Speedmaster spendJill Park, 3 June 2009Be the first to comment on this article Zenith Print and Packaging has said it will target a range of niche markets after investing in a new Heidelberg Speedmaster printing press. Pontypridd, Wales-based Zenith completed the installation of the Speedmaster CD 102-5+L UV in April and the machine is now fully operational. The Speedmaster has allowed Zenith to print on a wider range of substrates, including PVC, polypropylene, foil boards and wood-based substrates. Previously, the company had only worked with board. Zenith initially intended to replace its 1987 Speedmaster with a similar machine, but decided to invest in a press with UV drying capabilities. Consequently, the company can now run substrates through the press in one pass. Zenith now intends to target the drinks and luxury gift box market. “We’ve always looked for niche markets, people that want high quality but something different,” said managing director Ken Bell. Zenith visited Heidelberg’s Tamworth showroom and Qualvis Packaging in Leicester before deciding to invest in the Speedmaster. The company is currently working towards gaining colour-management accreditation ISO 12647-2. Speak Your Mind |
