Sealed Air introduces Barrier Bubble protective packaging

Sealed Air, the manufacturer of protective packaging, has launched a high-volume and high-throughput bubble cushioning system.

The NewAir IB 600 system automatically inflates and dispenses Barrier Bubble at 40sq ft per minute.

The system can be fitted into any packaging line or used on a standalone basis, it added.

It can be fitted with a roll winder dispenser that produces up to 54 inch diameter cushioning material rolls or with an Instasheeter converting system that cuts predetermined sheets of cushioned.

Sealed Air claims that the Barrier Bubble provides superior protection by retaining more than 95% of its thickness and absorbing 60% more transmitted shock.

Andy Robinson, Sealed Air's European product manager, said: "The system will help operators to reduce packaging waste and volumes while enhancing product protection.

"A leading spare parts manufacturer in Sweden has been using the system for several months and has already reported a significant reduction in freight damages and is using around 50% less packaging material."

Sealed Air operates in 51 countries and generated revenue of €2.9bn (£2.3bn) in 2006.
