Sealed Air to launch time and temperature montioring TurboTag

Sealed Air, the protective packaging specialist, is to introduce its TurboTag RFID-enabled time and temperature monitoring and data logging solution at RFID World 2008 in Las Vegas this week.

The active packaging sensor, which is credit card sized, enables customers to track and record temperatures in real time, therefore minimising waste.

Bill Roberts, a research fellow at Sealed Air Technology's and Innovation group, said: "TurboTag's real-time temperature sensing and data capture capabilities offer a huge improvement over existing time and temperature monitoring technology."

The tag is powered by a 1.5-volt battery supplied by Blue Spark, which Sealed Air selected because it is "thin, flexible and affordable".

Sealed Air operates in 51 countries. Its brands include Bubble Wrap, Cryovac and Jiffy.
