Rakusen's installs PFM bagging machine
Rakusen's, the producer of kosher bakery products, has bought a PFM bagging machine that allows it to handle a bigger snack size bag of crackers and improve its powder filling operation.
Graham Knapton, operations director of the Leeds-based firm, said the PFM Zenith vertical form/fill/seal machine moves on rails between an auger filler and PFM C2 14-head weigher. It runs at speeds up to 35 bags a minute.
"The investment is providing maximum benefit, with improved production efficiency and product presentation for our new 40g snack size bags of Matzo crackers," he said.
Using the new machinery, Rakusen's has upgraded its 375g bags of Matzo meal breadcrumb and 500g bags of potato starch from a plain film pillow pack, supplied in a carton, to block bottom stand-up bags in printed film, packed in retail-ready trays for on-shelf display.
"We are now able to use a better film without increasing overall material costs, which has certainly improved the appearance of existing products," added Knapton.
