Alcan Packaging Tobacco has rolled out a unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from Radius Solutions across its global operations.

The PECAS ERP/MIS software is a single database which brings all the elements of the printing process together so information can be collated for performance metrics.

It features a comprehensive planning tool which enables interactive balancing of press loadings against key job attributes.

The system also allows for quotations against different scenarios, which are used as a benchmark for factory performance once business has been won.

A generic set up of the software has been adopted across 12 Alcan Tobacco Packaging plants in 10 countries, including the Bristol site in the UK.

The remaining two facilities will be running PECAS Vision by the end of the year.

The blanket adoption of the software has enabed the movement of staff between plants and allowed for interplant comparisons.
