PiP, Partners in Packaging, has introduced a leaflet and booklet applicator system from the US to cut packaging costs for pharma firms.

The MGS TopSerter II high-speed rotary pick-and-place machine applies outserts up to 75 sq mm and 4mm thick to bottle caps or cartons.

“The continuous-motion kit will help pharma firms save on packaging costs without limiting patient information,” said Ed Hewitt, PiP sales manager for product handling.

“Leaflets tend to be within the cartons, but in the US they are folded and stuck to the bottle, which saves on packaging. Cartons are costly against a piece of paper and glue.”

The machine could swap and change sizes quickly and installation was simple, he said. TopSerter II slotted into a line with sensors upstream or downstream and no further integration was needed.
