Springfield Packaging goes into administration
Springfield Packaging, the Salford manufacturer of packaging for supermarkets, is reported to have gone into administration and 45 people will lose their jobs.
A spokesperson from administrator Begbies Traynor could not provide further details and Packaging News was unable to contact the company this morning.
It is thought that the Manchester office of chartered surveyor Charterfields will be selling the company's assets, which include a six-colour Mitsubishi press and die-cutting, gluing and window-patching equipment.
Salford-based Springfield Packaging printed folded cartons, sleeves and display cards for supermarkets, food manufacturers and chemical firms. It was founded in 1980 and operated from 4,924sq m premises on Cottenham Lane, Lower Broughton, Salford.
Turnover for the year ending August 2005 was £4m.
It is not thought that the business will be sold as a going concern.
