Crown Food Europe is to supply PeelSeam, its easy open closure for metal packaging, to Spain's largest retailer Mercadona for its anchovy product line.

Pack filler Gil Comes is supplying the 99mm x 46mm PeelSeam closure for the product line it supplies under the Hacendado brand name.

The anchovy PeelSeam end consists of a thin flexible foil heat-sealed to rigid steel rings for conventional double seaming onto existing containers.

Francisco Gil, owner of Gil Comes, said: "Crown worked closely with us throughout the project to ensure continuity of supply to our important customer. We are all very pleased with the new closure system for this valuable market in Spain."

Crown manufactures PeelSeam in Vigo, Northern Spain, where the company has invested in new facilities to expand supplies of the closures range.
