Brand Design: Carling

Landor Associates was tasked with reviewing the Carling Lager brand for the first time in three years to give it a more aspirational, stylish and modern look while continuing to engage with its heartland consumers and appeal to a wider audience.

The review spans Carling’s 500ml, 440ml and pint cans, plus the 300ml bottle.

Landor Associates creative director Derek Johnston said: “We wanted to put the pride of Britain back into the Carling brand, and really help drive quality. We were keen to give Carling an iconic appeal and mark it as a flag in the British landscape.”

The Carling lion has been updated, inspired by the sculptures on London’s Westminster Bridge.

The cans are on shelf now across the UK; the bottle will follow in the new year.
