In November 2012, Frontier Developments started a campaign through Kickstarter to fund the launch of the long awaited return of the most popular PC game in its history, Elite. 2 Years, 25,681 backers and £1,578,516 of funding later Elite: Dangerous came to life as Kickstarter’s most funded project in the UK to date.
Packaging Innovations London 2015 exhibitor Bridge Media was asked to design and produce the Premium Boxed Edition for the most dedicated fans of the game; project managing the entire process of designing the boxes, fitments and items within to shipping over 6000 globally to each individual.
Each box included a standard game pack including folding digipack and booklet, paperback copy of ‘Elite: Legacy’, embroidered T-shirt, pin badge and personalised letter from David Braben OBE. Posters of the game map were also sent separately to every premium box owner, with standard game packs including serialised cards for digital download going to other backers of the project.
Bridge Media worked closely with the marketing and design team at Frontier throughout the project to ensure their stunning artwork came to life on every piece, and the reviews across social media from fans suggests that the hard work paid off!
Packaging Innovatons & Luxury Packaging London takes place on September 16-17 at London’s Olympia.
