Coke to launch eight limited edition bottles for Olympics

Coca-Cola is releasing eight aluminium limited edition bottles to coincide with the Beijing Olympics, which run from 8-24 August.

Each has a different design by a Chinese graphic artist and an accompanying CD by New York-based Ultra Records musicians, inspired by the “Coke Side of Life” theme.

There will be one themed bottle per country in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, UK, Greece and New Zealand.

The UK bottle, with gem stone imagery by the MeWe design collective in Beijing, took ‘uplifting moments’ as its theme.

The Iconologic agency in Atlanta identified the artists and designers in China, and developed the brief that guided their bottle art around themes such as happiness, uplifting moments, global harmony and active optimism.

The agency also designed the entire package from the identity to the bottles, packaging, poster, brochure and CD booklet.

The international allocation of bottles was produced by Boxal France and filled in Spain.

The set has been available free at promotional events in selected countries leading up to the Olympics and at Coca-Cola stores in Atlanta and Las Vegas.
