Biosteam, which is available as roll stock or pre-made pouches, is derived from corn starch and is compostable.
Dundee-based Rockwell said the new product was especially suited to steaming frozen vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates.
Biosteam self-vents in approximately 40 seconds without any pre-inserted valve or vent. The product is also easy to open, as the microwaving process changes the structure of the pack, making the film easy to peel away.
Rockwell makes coated batch additives, films, laminates and co-extruded films for thermoforming.
