Smurfit Kappa supplies Wensleydale Creamery with tube packs

The pack, which holds a 500g cheese truckle, needed to create impact on shelf while providing safe transit for the product through the distribution chain.

It comprises a fully recyclable body, base and lid.

The body is made from 100% recycled fibres with the inner liner and outer label containing a mix of recycled and virgin fibres. The tinplate lid and base are sourced in Europe and contain at least 54% recycled steel.

There are two small holes in the body of the container, which enable the cheese to “breathe” and continue to mature while in transit from creamery to refrigerator.

Smurfit Kappa Composites litho-printed the packs in six and seven colours, while Skipton packaging and branding consultancy Absolute 2 Design, handled the design.

Wensleydale Creamery marketing manager Sandra Bell said: “We are delighted with the work of Smurfit Kappa Composites. They have delivered a practical pack with real on-shelf presence.”

Wensleydale Creamery is based in Hawes, North Yorkshire.
