Boxes Prestige spends 5m euros on equipment

Boxes Prestige, part of Clondalkin's speciality packaging division, is investing 5m euros (£3.9m) in printing and converting machinery.

The firm has bought two Manroland 700 B1-format presses – for its Northampton and Lublin, Poland plants – that reduce down time, ensure colour consistency and provide greater flexibility.

The seven-unit presses have dedicated coaters and UV drying capability and are also alcohol-free.

Boxes Prestige has also installed a Bobst Alpina Folder-Gluer 2 and an XM Easybender at the UK operation.

The folder-gluer offers faster running speeds than the firms existing equipment, while the Easybender reduces die-cutting time by 75%.

Managing director Peter Burgess said the new machinery would help the firm meet customers' high expectations.

In May, Boxes Prestige announced a 50% in capacity at the Polish plant.

Boxes Prestige specialises in printed folded cartons for niche premium products for the fragrance, personal care, confectionary and drinks markets.
