Vibrandt Form designs special edition Coke glass

Packaging design agency Vibrandt Form, part of brand design agency 1HQ, has developed a limited edition Coca-Cola glass that will be used as a promotional item in McDonald's restaurants.

The first run of 14m glasses is currently being launched in France, following a four-year trend for promotional Coke glasses at the fast-food retailer's outlets across the Channel.

The glasses could reach restaurants in other European countries, including the UK, next year.

The design, which took 10 months to develop, builds on Coca-Cola's current global marketing platform - The Coke Side of Life - that appears in a number of television adverts.

Vibrandt Form designer Tom Gilbert said: "Coke's 2D branding is strong and we wanted to capture it in a 3D form using strong and versatile imagery."

The base of the glass resembles the foot of the iconic Coke bottle, but moving up the glass "the contours explode into life".

Vibrandt Form won its first project with the drinks giant through a three-way pitch last year.
