Glass packaging manufacturer O-I has created the bottle for luxury Scotch whisky brand Chivas Regal’s 12 Year Old product in preparation for a Christmas relaunch.

Five glass bottles and a range of closures were created for Chivas Regal, to cater for different markets.

O-I created a 700ml and 750ml bottle with an external screw thread (EST) open pourer for the UK and US markets and a non-refillable closure for the remaining 200 countries in which Chivas Regal is sold. A one-litre EST bottle was also produced.

“Emotional brands like Chivas Regal recognise that their consumers continue to demand the purity, sustainability and image of glass,” said O-I Europe’s marketing manager of spirits Gilles Desheraud.

“The material provides a flexible canvas on which designers can develop and adapt brand personality for the contemporary market,” he added.

London-based Design Bridge designed the bottles for Chivas Regal, introducing extra embossing and a recess into which the label is placed for added protection.

The brand’s curvaceous bottle shape has been retained to accommodate existing pack sizes and line parts.

O-I employs more than 23,000 people with 79 manufacturing facilities across 21 countries.
