Japanese DIY brand Ryobi has refreshed its packaging and POS in one of design agency Refinery’s biggest-ever projects.

The redesign of the brand, which is sold only in B&Q in the UK, has been conceived to highlight its products’ technical prowess and to reclaim market share from competitors Black & Decker and Bosch.

It is one of the biggest projects Refinery has handled, covering 280 products, 15 product groups and 24 different languages.

Jim Barron, director of Manchester-based Refinery, described the brand’s new image as “hyper-green” and said that it would help differentiate its new products.

“The new green packaging and POS deliver a stronger look and feel for the brand, with a consistent messaging hierarchy and more and clearer product information than previous packaging,” he explained.
