Asda is set to reveal all on its packaging scorecard as part of the Packaging News seminar programme at next month’s easyFairs show.

Shane Monkman, the supermarket’s buying manager for packaging and the environment, is set to headline the Packaging News learnShop in a programme which also includes speakers from Innocent Drinks, DS Smith, CCL Labels

Other top speakers will include designers from agencies Holmes & Marchant and Webb deVlam and packaging consultants from AVA Packaging Solutions and Packology.

Monkman’s presentations, at 3pm on both 24 and 25 February, will cover the introduction of the Packaging Scorecard, which evaluates packaging against a range of criteria, including greenhouse gases, substrate material choices and chemical composition.

It will also explain the move from weight to carbon as the key measure of a pack’s environmental credentials and changes in the retailer’s supply roster.

Elsewhere, smoothie maker Innocent’s head of packaging Simon Oxley is also set to draw the crowds to the Packaging News learnshop with a presentation on the brand’s approach to packaging.

Meanwhile Terry Morgan of DS Smith Packaging will discuss corrugated’s role in the supply chain, while Ian Dick of CCL Labels will cover the latest innovations in labels.

EasyFairs’ packaging show comprises Packaging Innovations, PackTech, EcoPack and Contract Pack and takes place at the NEC on 24-25 February.

Packaging News is official media partner of the event and will be running a learnShop in Packaging Innovations.
