The millions of pounds being invested in plastic packaging reprocessing in the UK is also a positive environmental sign and indicative of a growing domestic market for packaging waste. Future success is, however, contingent on an increase in collection from the post-consumer waste stream. With only just over half of UK households having kerbside collections for plastics, there is the obvious potential to make subsequent recycling targets more challenging and offer even greater environmental benefits.
