BPI launches 100% recycled polythene refuse sacks

BPI.recycled products claims the Green Sacks have a carbon footprint 35% lower than many other refuse sacks on the market.

For every tonne of recycled polythene used for the bags, the firm claims it saves 1.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide, cuts other emissions by at least one third, reduces water usage by 90%, diverts waste from landfill and saves 1.8 tonnes of crude oil.

The Green Sacks are made from used farm plastics, including crop cover and bale wrap, reprocessed at BPI Recycled Products UK sites, therefore cutting product miles and emissions associated with transportation.

BPI.recycled products marketing director Guy Coates said there was an increasing need for Britons to adopt environmentally friendly products and working practices.

“Green Sacks go some way to meeting that need,” he said.

BPI recycles more than 70,000 tonnes of used polythene from commercial, retail, industrial and agricultural markets.
