Dell on track to meet packaging reduction goalsJosh Brooks, 24 August 2010Be the first to comment on this article Computer manufacturer Dell has said it is well on track to meet its packaging reduction targets after eliminating almost 4,000 tonnes of material in the 2010 fiscal year. Dell’s latest Corporate Social Responsibility report showed the US firm’s progress to meet its 20m-pound (9,000-tonne) reduction target. Dell has increased the use of recycled material to make more of its packaging recyclable via kerbside collection. It also highlights the move to create packaging from bamboo as part of its goal to improve the sustainability of its corrugated and protective packaging. Chief executive Michael Dell said: “As we work to help address the challenges we face in education, healthcare, the economy and with out planet, we will continue to deliver on our commitments to stakeholders while making business decisions that will drive growth.” Dell set the packaging targets for 2012 in 2008. As well as packaging, the goals also cover issues such as the recycling of used computers and funding youth projects.
