Coca-Cola has teamed up with New York stylist Patricia Field to produce a reusable bag made entirely from recycled PET bottles.

The Diet Coke-branded bag, which has been designed for Diet Coke’s young female target market, has been dubbed the Diet Coke rPET bag.

It features bold white print, overlaid on a black background and can be folded into a small pouch or used as an alternative to a plastic shopping bag.

The type printed on the bag includes words and phrases such as: “Work It!”, “Fierce” and “Pop Ovah”; as well as the the URL patriciafield.com.

The bag will be available at Boots stores across the UK from 22 October, when it will be given away free to customers who buy two 500ml bottles of Diet Coke.

Hilary Quinn, Coca-Cola Great Britain’s ‘My Coke’ director, said: “CCGB is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and encouraging consumers to recycle is just one way we can do this.

“By continuing our relationship with Patricia, we’ve used fashion as a tool to tap into our target audience’s passion points – creating a stylish accessory which carries a strong environmental message.”

Field, who is an award-winning film and television costume stylist who has worked on TV series Sex and the City and film The Devil Wears Prada, worked with Coke in 2008 to create the Diet Coke City Collection of four bottles.

The offer is being promoted via in-store activity, including pink-coloured point-of-sale gondolas.
