Carton manufacturer Chesapeake has gained FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification for five more of its paperboard sites, following an external audit of facilities in Belgium and France.

The achievement marks the end of Chesapeake’s FSC and PEFC accreditation programme, bringing the total number of certified paperboard sites on mainland Europe to 28.

The plants in Belgium and France were awarded the standards by certification body BM Trada.

Elaine Murray, Chesapeake’s material development manager, said: “The ability to offer FSC and PEFC-certified products on a truly pan-European basis demonstrates our commitment and allows us to offer a full portfolio of paper-based products to our customers.”

Alasdair McGregor, a business development executive at BM Trada, said: “Chesapeake was able to demonstrate a very high level of management commitment and consistency across all sites.”

PEFC and FSC are forest management schemes that ensure fibre comes from responsibly managed forests.
