Innovia launches improved barrier film

Innovia claims the NatureFlex NK has the best moisture barrier of any biopolymer film currently available making it suitable for a range of packaging applications.

The wood pulp-based film can also be laminated to other biofilms.

Innovia said the NatureFlex NK would bring bioplastics to significant markets “requiring excellent barriers”.

Andy Sweetman, Innovia Films’ global marketing manager for sustainable technologies, said: “Until now, compostable packaging materials have only been used in applications where their inherent permeability was an advantage. Now we can open up mainstream markets such as dried foods and snacks.”

Natureflex NK was launched today (6 November) at the European Bioplastics conference in Berlin.
