Jewellery store chain Hiho has moved to recycled packaging manufactured by Oyster Retail Packaging.

The gift boxes and bags are made from FSC certified recycled paper, with bag handles made from recyclable untreated cotton.

Customers can choose from traditional pad inserts for the boxes or recyclable tissue paper.

“We’re delighted with the new packaging and, as far as we know, we are the only multiple jeweller in the country with fully recyclable packaging,” said Hiho managing director Andrew Ransford.

Hiho’s packaging and branding was redesigned in December by design consultancy Blue Marlin.

Nottingham-based Oyster also makes paper-based gift bags for a number of high-end brands, including Ted Baker and Paul Smith, and jewellers Asprey and Boodles.

The new packaging is currently in use for orders made via the Hiho website and three of its stores. It is being rolled out to the other 11 stores as stocks are used up.
