Marshalls first to have carbon label on all packsliz.wells@haymarket.com, 16 December 2008Be the first to comment on this article Marshalls, the stone landscape product manufacturer, has become the first company to carbon footprint its entire range of products using the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label. Marshalls has been involved in the Carbon Trust’s carbon labelling scheme for the past 18 months and will launch the label on all 503 products from October. Marshalls must continuously reduce its carbon emissions over a two-year period, otherwise the Carbon Trust can withdraw the label. Group marketing director at Marshalls Chris Harrop said the company wanted to take “the bold move” and label its entire range “from the outset”. “Labelling a few products allows consumers to see the carbon footprint, but it limits the options in terms of choosing a product with a smaller footprint if there’s nothing to compare it to,” he said. Chief executive at the Carbon Trust Tom Delay said that by labelling all 503 of its products, Marshalls has given its consumers “the opportunity to factor the carbon impact of a product into their buying decision”. Marshalls launched its carbon calculator in January 2007. Speak Your Mind |
