Tesco supports green show at Museum of Packaging
Tesco has shown its support for packaging's spiritual home, the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, by signing up as the first sponsor for a new exhibition on sustainability.
The supermarket giant’s sustainability team is set to work with the museum on an upcoming show, ‘Packaging our Sustainable Future’, that will explore the ecological challenges facing the retail and packaging industries.
A prequel to the show will aim to highlight what can be learned about sustainability from packaging from the 1940s, while the main exhibition will focus on the six themes of reduce, re-use, recycle, refill, return and reward.
Tesco corporate responsibility director Ruth Giradet said that the sponsorship illustrates our commitment to the environmental debate, and to this marvellous museum.
The first part of the show will open on 22 January 2009, while the main exhibition will kick off on 31 March 2009.
Packaging News readers can visit the museum, in London’s Notting Hill, and its current exhibition on confectionery packaging from the 1960s in a two-for-one offer. Simply present your copy of Packaging News to bring in a friend for free. For more information, visit www.museumofbrands.com
