PH Flexible Packaging creates compostable bubble-wrap

PH Flexible Packaging is to launch a compostable bubble-wrap using an environmentally friendly film from British Polythene Industries (BPI).

Compost-A-Bubble, the latest addition to Derbyshire-based PH Flexible's range of protective packaging, complies with the EN 13432 European composting standard.

The product can be discarded into industrial composting facilities where it will break down along with the green waste.

It is suitable for packaging fruit, vegetables and flowers because it enables retailers to dispose of unsold products and packaging as a single item.

Compost-A-Bubble is currently 1,500mm wide, but PH Flexible is investigating smaller-sized reels.

PH Flexible managing director Paul Horobin said: "Our strong working relationship with BPI Films is helping us to stay a step ahead in these products."
