Sharp R-Apet packs used for Sainsburys soft fruitstevenkiernan, 1 December 2006Be the first to comment on this article Sainsburys is packaging all of its Taste the Difference soft fruits in environmentally friendly materials supplied by Sharp Interpack. Sharp, based in Aylesham, Kent, has supplied 12 individual pack components that contain the R-Apet material, which uses up to 80% post-consumer recycled content. Sainsbury’s has a target to use 100% recycled content on its Taste the Difference soft fruits by Christmas. The pack designs maximise ventilation between the base and the lid and do not require further ventilation from punched holes. In future, many of the packs will feature pre-printed lids supplied by Leading Edge in Gravesend, instead of stick-on labels, reducing the amount of packaging on each product. Sharp Interpack is committed to reducing its own packaging waste and has invested £2m in equipment to provide a closed-loop in-house recycling system. Speak Your Mind |
