Solo Cup Europe awarded environment accreditationJill Park, 17 December 2008Be the first to comment on this article Single-use cup and food container manufacturer Solo Cup Europe has been awarded ISO 14001 certification in recognition of its ongoing environmental commitment. Solo Cup Europe has worked with Closed Loop London to take 20% of rPET produced by the plant and use it in its range of rPET single use cups and tumblers. The company has also partnered with Closed Loop to sponsor the Closed Loop Recycling Scheme to give offices the opportunity to recycle food packaging. Solo Cup Europe is also a founding member of the Cup Recovery & Recycling Group. Vice president for the environment at Solo Cup Europe Anne Sutton praised employee’s hard work in achieving the standard in only 18 months. “We see this as the beginning of a journey during which we will continually strive to improve environmental performance through working practices, explore the application of new materials and formats, minimise energy consumption and reduce all types of waste,” she said.
