Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust has launched the zones in collaboration with Coca-Cola, Wrap and Surrey County Council.
The initiative will give staff, visitors and patients the opportunity to recycle plastics bottles, cans and paper while on the move.
The recycling bins will be located throughout Chertsey-based St. Peter’s and Ashford hospitals.
David Harmer, Surrey County Council’s executive member for the environment, said: “Reducing the amount of material sent to landfill is a challenge that needs to be met by Surrey residents, businesses and the public sector alike.
“Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals have a large workforce, a high number of visitors and many drinks outlets on both sites making them ideal places to locate recycle zones.”
As part of the initiative, recycling charity Recoup will offer up to 10 days’ technical consultancy to each participating location to enable them to adopt best practice for collection and recycling.
