The Co-operative puts storage instructions on loose fruit and veg bagscatherinedawes, 15 June 2009Be the first to comment on this article The Co-Operative Group is to introduce storage instructions on fresh produce bags for loose fruit and vegetables.
The optimum conditions for storing a selection of loose fruit and vegetables is printed onto each bag in a bid to tackle food waste. The new printed bags mean that consumers can take home information that would not normally be present on unpackaged food. “Household food waste is a growing problem and, as the UK’s largest convenience store retailer, we are determined to do all we can to help our customers tackle this issue,” said director of food marketing Debbie Robinson. The Co-operative is also switching the emphasis of its promotional offers, particularly on perishable foods, from buy one, get one free to half-price offers. The new bags will go into 150 stores from 22 June and will be rolled out to all Co-operative stores with fresh produce by the end of the year. Speak Your Mind |
