Waitrose rolls out printed egg boxes

September 22, 2009 Comments Off

Waitrose has moved to printing key information directly onto its egg boxes instead of using labels to display the information

The retailer started rolling the new printed boxes out in May. It is hoped that none of its egg boxes will still be using labels by the end of the year.

Waitrose is a signatory of the Courtauld Commitment to deliver absolute reductions in packaging waste by 2010 and has reduced packaging waste by a third since 2000.

In July, Waitrose announced it would be bulk importing its new Virtue range of wine and bottling it in the UK, to cut carbon emissions by 47 tonnes per year.
