The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has confirmed Dr Liz Goodwin as its new chief executive.

Goodwin (pictured), who has been acting as interim chief executive since Jennie Price’s departure, said she was “delighted” with the opportunity.

“Environmental issues have never before been so high on the agenda,” she said. “We need to capitalise on this awareness and convert it into action that has a significant impact.”

Meanwhile, supermarket chain the Co-op, is to launch a new bottle for its own-label whisky which will be the first commercially available 70cl spirits bottle to weigh less than 300g, setting a new ‘best in class’ standard.

The 298g bottle was developed and produced by Rockware, and incorporated into the WRAP-funded Container Lite programme.
