102 jobs cut as two Keating Group sites close for goodstevenkiernan, 7 February 2008Be the first to comment on this article The Keating Group’s two plants in Mold, Flintshire, are to close definitively, with the loss of 102 jobs, after the engraver of gravure cylinders for packaging went into administration last week.
Staff at Keating Group in Mold, which also specialises in repro and cylinder production, were told on 25 January that they would all be made redundant and would not be paid for the final four weeks worked. It is understood that there was "absolutely no expectation" of the move, which was blamed on a bank changing its mind about releasing money for the company. Keating Group also has an artwork and repro plant in Bedford that was not affected by the administration. Its international businesses include a site in Dublin, cylinder production facilities in Izmir, Turkey, and Manila, Philippines, and a print and packaging repro site in Lund, Sweden. Keating Group, set up more than 20 years ago by Mike Keating, was taken over by Mike Samuel and Paul Musto in July 2007. It supplies cylinders to Amcor Flexibles and has partnered with consumables giant Sun Chemical on gravure printing. Speak Your Mind |
