Bete to launch polyurethane cup seal

Bete managing director Beesh Zytynski told Packaging News that the polyurethane Super Seal would overcome the problems of broken glass splinters getting into rubber seals when breakages occur on glass bottling lines.

“It’s a harder-wearing material and any broken particles would just bounce off,” he said.

“Another benefit of polyurethane is that it can easily be colour-coded, helping maintenance staff to correctly identify the right cup/seal for the right bottle filler.”

Zytynski added that the Super Seal was initially available for glass wine, beer and cider bottles.

“In four to five months’ time we’ll also be offering it to fillers of plastic bottles,” he said.

Uni-Spray has also developed a two-composition, coloured cup/seal and holder for KHS, the US manufacturer of bottling lines, which is said to offer “superior changeability, wearability and sanitation” yet at lower cost.

Uni-Spray Systems manufactures products for metal finishing as well as bottling products to increase the efficiency of high-speed bottling lines. It was founded in 1987 in Ontario, Canada, as a moulder of a proprietary line of spray nozzles.
