Chesapeake invests in new embossing systemliz.wells@haymarket.com, 28 October 2008Be the first to comment on this article Chesapeake has invested in a RotoBraille embossing system developed by Wakefield firm Cava UK, which will enable the packaging manufacturer to add Braille information to pharmaceutical cartons. The RotoBraille system, designed and developed by Cava and built by Signature in Korea, allows Braille information to be placed on any or all four carton faces. It can be retrofitted to most folders/gluers and allows fine adjustment of dot height and level. Chesapeake will shortly install the system at its pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging plant in Leicester. The machine is expected to be fully operational by the end of November. The purchase of the RotoBraille system forms part of Chesapeake’s major investment in new printing presses and ancillaries at a number of its manufacturing sites across the world. Chesapeake head of R&D Carol Hammond said: “Chesapeake’s decision is based on the belief that a multi-panel solution for Braille embossing will meet the ongoing needs of the marketplace.” She added that the RotoBraille system would satisfy the most stringent international standards. The RotoBraille system was launched at Drupa in Düsseldorf earlier this year.
