Pharmaceutical contract packer Chester Medical Solutions is growing its booklet printing business following the installation of two new digital presses from Oc.

The Wirral, Cheshire-based firm installed the Océ CS665 Pro and CPS900 in December to replace an older digital print machine and, according to sales director Tammy Williams, is already reaping the benefits.

She told Packaging News that the machines, which will sit alongside Xeikon and HP kit in the company’s digital print department, would produce leaflets, labels, booklets and cartons. “We have already seen the volume of booklets increase,” she added.

Chester Medical Solutions is the pharmaceutical industry-facing brand of ADS Graphics, which also runs a carton printing business with B1 and B2 litho presses and a range of other print kit, including screen, digital and smaller format litho, for leaflet and label printing.

Williams said that the digital print operation could take advantage of cutting and creasing capacity in the carton-printing side of the business, but that an extra booklet-maker had also been installed.

The company, which is a member of the British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association, has also recently been awarded FSC chain of custody accreditation, allowing customers to use the FSC logo on packs.

Business aimed at the retail and other blue-chip companies in the sports and leisure, marketing, drinks and print management sectors is marketed under the ADS Graphics brand.
