EasyFairs is to feature a zone dedicated to digital print for the packaging sector and has signed up digital print heavyweights including Epson, Xeikon and Konica Minolta to exhibit.

The Print for Packaging zone is designed to promote the possibilities of fast-turnaround print and will take place as part of the PackTech exhibition, one of four at the event at the NEC.

Epson is the latest digital print kit supplier to sign up and has promised to show its Stylus Pro WT7990 inkjet printer, which allows users to proof packaging designs and produce 3D mock-ups on transparent and metallic foils using the world’s first water-based white ink for inkjet technology.

Digital prepress supplier EskoArtwork and printer manufacturers Konica Minolta and Xeikon have also already signed up for the zone.

EasyFairs UK managing director Matt Benyon said: “[The zone] focuses on new digital technologies that can significantly accelerate time to market, as well as enabling brands and retailers to manage shifts in trading conditions by cost-effectively adapting their on-pack messaging.”

“Digital print has the unique capability of realising its even fuller potential as a marketing tool in ways that brand managers and many of their suppliers won’t have imagined prior to visiting the event.”

In addition to the UK event, Epson has signed a deal with EasyFairs to exhibit at eight other shows across Europe in the coming year.

Epson senior business manager EMEA for professional graphics Claes Jeppsson said that the deal would allow the group to exhibit its wares to packaging specialists on a pan-European scale. “EasyFairs will be one of our key marketing tools in 2010,” he said.

Packaging News is the official media partner for the 24-25 February event, which also includes Packaging Innovations, Contract Pack and Eco Pack.
