Fisher Clinical Services provides a range of packaging and distribution services for products used in clinical trials. The new system supports the picking, packaging and dispatching of a range of investigational medicinal products.
It consists of seven stations where orders are inspected and manually packed before being transported out of the temperature-controlled facility to an ambient temperature warehouse for dispatch. It has been installed so as to be able to increase the number of work stations to nine should it be needed.
CSL designed a bespoke roller conveyer mounted on special feet so it could be operated at a height of 30cm off the ground.
A Fisher spokesperson said it was essential the system was created at an easy and accessible height to deal with weights of up to 40kg.
“The system has been a success and has proved to be totally reliable in operation and efficient by significantly increasing our orders being shipped,” the spokesperson said.
Derbyshire-based CSL produces a range of conveying equipment that can be interfaced with other packaging and labelling machinery, wrappers and palletisers.
