Sales and marketing director Dev Brahmachari said the was the investment of around £3.5m largest in the company’s history and “underpins our position among the market leaders in litho packaging in the UK”.
“Brands are in constant competition for retailer and consumer attention and the KBA Rapida will allow us to offer the ultimate in print quality in an ecologically responsible way.”
The deal is also KBA’s largest sheetfed installation in the UK for a number of years and was concluded at printing show Ipex in May.
The KBA Rapida is expected to be in production in a dedicated press hall at CRP’s Corby, Northamptonshire site within two months.
CRP’s press will include KBA’s VariDryBlue system, which was launched at Ipex that is specified for point-of-sale products.
Reduced power consumption
The system is designed to dry high-gloss coatings while reducing power consumption by as much as 50%.

CRP has a turnover of around £18m and counts brands such as Heineken, Fosters, Constellation and Nestlé among its clientele.
