Heat-sealing specialist Proseal is helping Scottish soft fruit producer Geoffrey Bruce meet changing retail demands by installing a GT2 tray sealer.

Geoffrey Bruce decided to invest in a new machine in response to supermarkets looking to sealed packs as a replacement for clip-on lids and opted for the GT2 for its speed and reliability.

Manager James White said the machine’s flexibility had also been an important factor and the company’s back up service since installation last year had been reassuring.

“The nature of our business means we can be asking the machine to work a 14-hour shift one day and an one-hour shift the next,” said White.

“It was vital that it was flexible enough to adapt to those needs and reliable enough not to let us down at an inopportune moment.”

The GT2 has a top speed of 96 packs a minute and features Proseal’s servo-controlled pack transfer for smooth movement throughout the sealing process.

Proseal’s Auto Tool connection system means that it takes three minutes to change the set-up of the machine and an auto-lock film reel holder further reduces downtime.

Geoffrey Bruce produces and packs strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackcurrants.
