Ilapak will launch the Vegatronic 4000 high-performance vertical form, fill and seal machine at Total later this month.

The machine, which is suitable for wrapping delicate products such as prepared salads, potatoes and quick-frozen foods, uses a continuous film motion to reach speeds of 140 packs a minute.

It handles a range of pack formats, including pillow bags, block bottom and Quattro packs. A 450mm-wide jaw allows it to produce packs up to 420mm in width. The open-frame design provides easy access for cleaning and maintaining high standards of hygiene.

A second new machine from the Middlesex-based firm is the Carrera 1000 PCR, an inverted horizontal form, fill and seal machine for handling loose, unsupported products such as avocados, apples and other fruit and vegetables.

The flow wrapper can reduce packaging costs and environmental impact because it eliminates the need for a tray.

Also on display will be the Delta 2000 LDR designed for similar applications to the Carrera 1000 PCR, but in addition it produces modified atmosphere packs.

Ilapak’s Delta VacMap three-in-one flow wrapper is too large to feature on its stand but will be shown via video. The machine, initially developed for tortilla manufacturer Sonora Foods, also saves costs by being able to combine flow-wrap, MAP and VacMap in a single machine.

The Alfa 400 four-sided seal sachet machine fitted with a fluid dosing system for marinades and sauces will complete Ilapak’s display.
