Kodak has targeted its new inkjet printer at the corrugated market as part of its scheme to extend its core technologies into new markets.

The CorrStream high-speed digital printer builds on Kodak Versamark printing systems and has been developed in collaboration with Sun Automation.

It is the result of a product development and commercialisation agreement between Kodak and corrugated machinery equipment manufacturer Sun Automation and marks Kodak’s move into new niche markets.

The CorrStream runs at speeds up to 500fpm and is capable of printing 45 inches of colour print across a corrugated sheet up to 60 inches wide.

It is suitable for corrugated applications such as point of sale displays as well as primary and secondary packaging.

Kodak’s general manager for inkjet printing solutions Mike Marsh said that the partnership with Sun Automation allowed them to “implement our inkjet technology in additional solutions”.

“We are excited by the growth opportunities in this area,” he said.
