Linpac Allibert launches pallet collarliz.wells@haymarket.com, 16 April 2008Be the first to comment on this article Linpac Allibert, the materials handling division of the Linpac Group, has launched a pallet collar that will transform a wooden or plastic pallet into a bulk container. The firm said the polypropylene pallet collar, which can be built up in 30cm-high stages, would save the time and cost of stretch-wrapping and provide extra protection to electrical goods, boxed products, frozen foods, loose components and garments. Combining four pallet collars would give the same storage capacity as a 1,336-litre pallet box, the firm added. The pallet collar can be printed or embossed and fitted with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to enable it to be tracked through the supply chain. The pallet collars fold flat and can be nested together when not in use, with up to seven units inside one assembled collar. A pallet and four collars can be stacked up to two high and support a combined weight of one tonne. Linpac Allibert's containers, bulk boxes and pallets are made from tough plastic and are reusable and resistant to impact damage. The firm said the pallet collars could be recycled. Linpac Allibert was formed in 2006 following Linpac Materials Handling's acquisition of French plastics firm Allibert. It accounts for 20% of Linpac Group sales. The firm is consolidating its UK plastic returnable packaging operations in Winsford, Cheshire, and will close its sites in Walsall, which employs 186 staff in manufacturing, and in Bromsgrove, with 13 warehouse workers. It will create around 100 new manufacturing and warehousing jobs at Winsford. Speak Your Mind |
