Linx Printing Technologies is targeting the packaging industry, particularly the pharmaceutical sector, with a new range of coders said to offer greater accuracy.

Product manager David Martin said the Scribing Laser range of digitally controlled lasers would have "interesting effects" on many industries, in particular pharmaceuticals.

"The technology enables us to run at higher speeds and with greater accuracy to produce better quality," he said.

He said it was possible to put more information on products without increasing power levels. "Where a traditional application might require 30W, we can perhaps do the same with 10W," he said.

Linx has also tried to make the lasers "easy and quick" to install and use.

Cambridgeshire-based Linx manufacturers continuous inkjet printers, impulse jet printers and laser coders for industries, such as beverages and pharmaceuticals, which require product identification codes.
