Falconer makes site fit for press
Falconer Print and Packaging is preparing for the arrival of a Heidelberg press this month.
The 35-staff firm is drilling foundation piles into its factory floor in Elland, West Yorkshire, to accommodate the Speedmaster CD74-6L-F UV machine.
It will produce short runs of small cartons for pharma and cosmetics firms at speeds of 15,000 cartons an hour and average runs of 5,000.
The Speedmaster replaces a five-colour Roland 600 B1 press at the £2.5m-turnover firm. Heidelberg had the technological edge on Roland and was “very proactive towards installation”, said managing director Hadyn Bradbury.
